Organizational Structure

PALS, an all-volunteer, non-profit, no-kill rescue group, is successful through the efforts of many different volunteers:

  • Active rescue personnel serve Lynn, Salem, Swampscott, Peabody and surrounding areas. The rescuers respond to calls from the public about cats that are obviously stray or in need of help.
  • A network of foster homes specializing in housing cats needing medical attention, expectant mothers and their offspring, and feral kittens requiring socialization. Fosters also care for the cats waiting for space to open up in our small Adoption Center inside PetSmart. We are always looking for new foster caregivers. If interested in opening up your home to deserving felines, please contact our Feline Coordinator at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
  • Approximately 40 active volunteers work each day to clean cages, do the laundry, feed the cats, and socialize with the animals. Our volunteers are college students, professionals, mothers, retirees and local animal lovers, without whom PALS would not exist. If you are interested in volunteering your time to care for our cats, conduct adoptions, or to offer your expertise on a committee, please review our volunteer application.
  • A Board of Directors oversee the daily operation of the shelter, volunteers, and foster network.
